Warehouse Operative

Straight Forward Recruitment are looking for a warehouse operatve to join a local company on the outskirts of Norwich (NR9) who area local producer of specialist Ham, Bacon and Sausages.

• Shift: Monday to Friday 07h00 – 16h00
• Pay Rate: £12.40 per hour increasing to £12.60 per hour after 12 weeks
• Own transport essential due to location and shift start time
• This is a temporary to permanent position for the right individual 

As a Warehouse Operative, supporting the food processing plant, you will be responsible for handling the receipt, storage, and dispatch of food products in a chilled environment of 4 degress celcius. You’ll ensure all products are moved efficiently, safely, and in line with food hygiene regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive, unload, and check deliveries against order paperwork.
• Store goods in appropriate temperature zones (e.g. chilled at 4°C, frozen, ambient).
• Pick and pack orders accurately for internal processing or customer delivery.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and adhere to food safety regulations 
• Operate warehouse machinery where necessary and training has been provided.
• Complete stock rotation and assist in regular inventory checks.
• Work in cold environments for extended periods with appropriate PPE.
• Follow all health & safety procedures and report any hazards or discrepancies.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and logistics teams to meet dispatch schedules.

Requirements: 

• Experience in warehouse or food distribution preferred.
• Familiarity with working in chilled or frozen environments.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Physically fit – be able to lift, move, and stand for long periods
• Awareness of hygiene and food safety standards.
